I taught Jon Paterson how to riverboard in 2014 and this was essential for my own development. Having someone I could trust on the river is so important, and Jon picked it up so quickly that by 2016 we were equals, now learning from eachother and building off of eachothers findings. We work on different tricks at a time so when we have mastered them we can teach it to eachother. Through this Jon has invented a bunch tricks of his own imagination, such as; the halo board spin (4min15sec), the boardspin body varial (2min32sec) and probably the most complex trick to date the insane flip bodyvarial(3min22sec). Which consists of a ridiculous combination of his board doing a backflip and his body doing a 360. In 2017 Jon was the first and still to this day only riverboarder to surf gladiator on the main channel of the Ottawa(1min05sec). His accomplishments as an athlete make me super proud to be his brother and best friend, and I know Jon would never brag about these exploits himself, so I'm doing it for him.
