River Circus at Skookumchuck

My first day at Skook was a wild one! Jet skis, kayakers, surfers, drones and ferries...it was quite the river circus.  I can't wait to surf this glassy beast again this summer. The Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial park is a magical place and definitely worth the visit, even if you don't surf. I was blown away by all the ocean wildlife, the constant change in tidal direction, and the beauty of the old growth forest... everything about this place was breath taking.

The opening shot is my very first surf on dream wave, shorty after arriving at Bladder Falls on the Nelson river. Forty hour drive, 3 days of pack rafting, and countless hours of preparation had brought me to this moment. I was very nervous about dropping in on this wave because I had never seen anything like it before. A giant green shoulder to a massive house sized pit. McCoy's Stormy Surf

This has to be my favorite wave to surf to this day. A big storm rolled in while we were at McCoy's. High winds and pouring rain got the blood pumping and I was able to go huge.
